Just replaced mine in my 2.2 with the latest version of the Landrover battery. Figured that as mine was 10 years old and had only just given up on life, it was actually a really decent battery. Phoned my local Landrover dealer who were absolutely useless (and stupidly expensive, as I expected).
LED95 Varta Professional Dual Purpose EFB Leisure Battery 95Ah (930095085) https://www.tayna.co.uk £134.00 delivered (quickly too). The only consideration is that as I now want to put a second battery in the battery box, i’m not quite sure i’f I’ll have enough space and what that battery should be - think I should be ok if I’m careful with sizing. |

The LED95 is a really good battery, I have one in my 2.2, see my posts half way down on this topic https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic16605...p;start=30
And you can fit another battery alongside it, see LRA’s pic half way down this topic https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic60413-795.html. He used a Yuasa as the main battery but it’s the same dimensions as the Varta . Noting to do this you will need to modify how you clamp the batteries. |

As Ian mentions, I've just gone for a Yuasa YBX5019 Silver, again from Tayna. I chose this one because of its 100amp/900CCA capacity and five year warranty:

+1 for Yuasa, had dual battery set up in our Landcruiser, they lasted 10 years from the original build Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200

I opted for the Varta LED95 earlier this year, pleased so far.
If it lasts as long as the original battery it replaced (15 years and 260,000 miles) I shall consider it a good buy.  |

After two days on trickle charge the battery is as flat as a witch's tit.

Just a quick check on the LED95. Does anyone know if the vents are connected? Seems a bit odd to connect the vent on one side (to the landy vent/tube) and leave the other open but I don’t want to block it up if they are not connected. Can’t find anywhere that says. I assume they have 2 vents fitting either way around and not even comes with an extra bung attached to the cover on one of the terminals so I assume it’s there to be used and the old Varta battery I removed had one plugged (but was a JLR CX23-10655-BA) I don’t want it to go pop!

I believe them to be connected so that either or both can be used. The unused one should be plugged.
When I fitted mine I used one, plugged the other, and I am still alive to tell the tale.! |

Thanks a mill. It makes sense and seems logical - especially as they provide a bung in addition to the travel bungs. I’ll plug one, then find out the landy vent is blocked when it launches my front seat passenger through the roof in years to come…….

You could always blow into one vent and see what comes out of the other.

Kind of a related question, if I plug in the battery to a CTEK and it doesn't charge as quickly as it used to and is drained significantly between plug ins, is the battery on the way out?
