Hello all
My 2015 has just started to experience a really annoying glitch. The rear door locks with the key fob central locking but does not unlock. All the other doors unlock fine but I have to use the key to unlock the rear door. Before I start dismantling the whole door has anyone experienced this before and any tips/advice on what the problem may be? Thanks all. Yes, that happens on mine.. A 2014 110..
When I unlock with the fob the back door sometimes stays locked.. Usually if I lock and unlock again it works.. It hasn't annoyed me enough to look into it yet.. I thought maybe if I'd used the key at some point in the past to lock it it may have had an effect on the key fob operation |

May be worth taking off the door card & checking the linkage in the photo below is all in place.
The servo in the bottom left corner pushes / pulls the rod when using the key fob to lock / unlock. I’ve also found the adjustment of the striker plate attached to the door frame can affect the locking / unlocking if it’s not in the correct position i.e. pulling the door in too much or too little. I have, in a past life, had a CL servo/solenoid fail so that it only worked in one direction. Might be worth a look.
However, it may be something mechanical as others have said. Taking the door card off, and having a multimeter or test lamp to hand should get you back on track đź‘Ť |

Mine won’t unlock when cold on one rear door. It’s all part of the character

I removed the door latch and gave a good rinse in kerosene. Then sprayed with WD40 or rust-off. Now it works.
In this case the locking tab did not move all the way down. Click image to enlarge Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

I had a similar issue, one of the springs had broken inside the lock and it wasn't returning to the unlock position.

The lock hasn't changed much in decades and that little locking tab has always been temperamental. In my old 90 I had a piece of silicone tube over it to add resistance because it would unlock on its own Miffy doesn't unlock from time to time almost always when it has been sub zero overnight so suspect that a little brake cleaner followed by a light oil would solve this. |

During last year I have to clean several Defender lock, when sorting non-working central locking. Just spraying some cleaner into the lock is not enough. Remove from door, submerse in cleaner a flush several times through. Lube with some light oil a bit and then some ligh grease. After that, all locks worked better tha new. The was quite a big amount of dirt and old hard grease inside of the locks. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

Removing the door card is not hard, but if not careful and / or it’s cold the plastic clips can break. So worth ordering a few spare clips in advance of removing “just in case”. Also using a hair dryer ( the only use I have for one now ) to warm up door card and clips helps in preventing them breaking.

For those of you who like the tools as much as the vehicle, a cheap pair of these pliers are worth their weight in gold

Make sure the linkage is fitted correctly (as in the photo's above) if the fulcrum is fitted incorrectly the door locks on unlock and unlocks when the others are locked>. Dont ask how I know!
