Eberspacher issues
Maybe the right area for this?

I have a Eberspacher D2 with 801 controller that has been working OK for a couple of years.
Apart from a couple of duff connections which got fixed its all been good until last weekend.

An early cold morning and I decided that a bit of warmth would be nice for the 6am drive.
Turned the heater on and I could hear the fan whirl, the fuel pump clicking and the exhaust sound.

Came back to the car 30mins later and the car is cold. Heater stopped.
Anyways, headed off on the drive to Anglesey and later that afternoon I tried the heater again, but this time it worked but I did notice that the heat out of it did not seem as hot as normal. But heat all the same and the heater kept running.

Yesterday tried the same again while the car was parked up in the drive and again heater started and then stopped.

I did an error code erase and then an error check, the only error showing is

F0 - 0
F1 - 53 - Flame cutout

D2 is powered via 2 x 110ah batteries charged via a split charge
801 controller

Open to suggestions

Job for the weekend;
Check main wiring for the heater
Check fuel pipes
Check fuses 1999 Defender TD5 110

Cheers Guy I have been looking at them - which is how I found out how to read the error codes. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Figured you would have Thumbs Up

Also found this which lends weight to checking out the fuelling situation

Quote:
Flame-outs
If insufficient fuel reaches the Eberspacher the flame will extinguish and the flame-out causes the heater to shut down. The most common reasons for restricted fuel flow are blocked fuel filter, kinked pipe, air leaks, air lock or running out of fuel.

It is a small bore pipe, might be partially blocked.

That's another thing to check at weekend, remove pipe from heater end, pump end and tank (separate one under the bonnet)
Also I think there is a gauze in the dosing pump 1999 Defender TD5 110

Yes it does seem to be a fuelling issue. Fingers crossed it is just a clogged up filter. Unless you are using kerosene or something in the standalone tank and it has waxed up over night.

Where is your D2 fitted? Always curious to see peoples fitting of these heaters.

I am hoping its fueling as that's a fairly easy one to look at
I use normal diesel.

Heater is located under the passenger seat and blows out under the middle seat 1999 Defender TD5 110

Update

Cleaned out the fuel lines and the gauze filter at the pump end, which did have some grud in it.

Checked the combustion air intake

When I connected the fuel lines back up and set the heater to start I could see the fuel being pumped through the pipe to the heater

Now get error 52/54 Sad

Back to the head scratching. 1999 Defender TD5 110

This morning the heater fired up first time and got the car nice and warm before my early trip up the M6. I think this was a combo of two things.

1. Crud in the fuel pump gauze which didn't help
2. Possible low voltage at the 2nd battery.

Time will tell. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Fingers crossed the issue is fixed. I might try it tomorrow morning to see.

The M6 was just damp this morning at least as far as Morcambe. 1999 Defender TD5 110
