Hazard Switch in a "Newer" Td5 Dash
Does anyone know if you can replace just the bulb in the hazard switch.

Just rung my local dealer and they said you have to buy a whole new switch @ £25!!!

I have pulled it out and you can remove the bulb. Its basically mounted on a little piece of circular black plastic, that you unscre 1/4 turn and it pops out nicely. To put it back in, simply push in and turn.

I find it a bit hard to believe that you cant change the bulb even though you can get it out easily?? It looks like it needs the bulb and plastic screw in bit to come as one that you just screw in to replace.

Anyone changed theirs, or know where i might be able to get the correct bulb from without buying the whole switch?

Cheers

Sounds just like a dashboard bulb (i.e. the type that goes in the speedo), they are available on ebay but I can't remember off the top of my head what code they are.

Sounds very similar to the bulbs used in the head unit (radio) of the Disco 2.

Some Dealers really are cr@p Mad

The bulb isn't listed separately in Microcat for the 2002> Defender Hazard Warning Switch, however...

... it is listed for the 300TDi Discovery Hazard Warning Switch (which is essentially the same switch, but vertical instead of horizontal)

F*ck, f*ck, f*ck, i got a new switch from the dealer for the sum of £24 after searching the internet and asking various land rover parts stockists that all said the same thing.

I put it all back together about and hour ago.

Typical..

Hopefully at least somone wont have to pay for the same issue in the future. Thanks to everyone who responded.

If anyone needs a switch, i know have a spare that somone could put a bulb in??? Current:D4 HSE

That's a bummer Sad

Put your spare switch on eBay (it's Free Listing this weekend ), even with a blown bulb, you'll recoup some of your £24
