Love this Matt, got loads of questions though
I’m looking at supercharging options already lol I’m interested in seeing how winchesters gearbox holds up to some boost. What figures are you looking for, power wise? I’m thinking of going down JLRs route with their older blower which has the two heat exchangers on both sides of the charger. Solely for the “supercharged” casting lol Did you got stand-alone loom? EDIT: is the 5.0 supercharger based on the old M112 or is it new new? 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

Thanks, appreciate it.
No doubts in the LT230 at all. Probably the strongest part of the LR driveline. Looking for 450/500hp and anything over would just be a bonus No the 5.0 is the new twin vortices charger. The older m112 and m90 are roots style which are basically just heat pumps I also think the 5.0 is easier to adapt than the older 4.2 Yes it’s already running Link G4+ 1989 90 4.3 V8 2012 L405 OF 2014 D4 HSE Lux (SOLD) 2015 90 HT (SOLD) @d9o.mf |

Blimey Matt I haven't looked at this thread for a few weeks but it's all going on again back here! Thoroughly great work as usual and thank you for all your help regarding my conversion.

I've just re-read this thread from the start, absolutely brilliant work.
I've not seen a V8 conversion with a supercharger on this site yet, although I have suggested the supercharged G.M. LSA crate engine for those who may be interested. But the work here, using a somewhat unusual V8, and then mating it to a supercharger, is something I've not come across anywhere before. Will you put your Defender on the rollers after completion of the work? You have great skill, Pickles. |

Thanks all for the kind words.
What can I say, I like making things fit together that shouldn’t Yes once complete it will be back on the dyno for a re-calibration of the ecu. This is just a test fit for now, I’ve still got some other things to sort. Belt routing, intake pipes, and some other small mods…. I’ve going some other changes coming up also, so I’m wanting to do them all as a package - probably a bit of a winter project. Stay tuned 1989 90 4.3 V8 2012 L405 OF 2014 D4 HSE Lux (SOLD) 2015 90 HT (SOLD) @d9o.mf |

It’s been a while since I updated this thread so thought id drop some pictures in to show what’s been happening. Let me know if there’s something you’d like more info about.
I completed a rear seat conversion using the stepped tub panel kit from YRM Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Ordered a new chassis from Marsland to aid with mock up of a new transmission… Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge …ZF 8HP70X from BMW, mounted to a mock block and transfer case using Domiworks and Synchro adapters Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge You’ll notice some pictures are with a bare block, sometimes a full motor, this one is new (to me) and is assembled with forged pistons and rods. When the engine and gearbox brackets come back from powdercoat I’ll drop that in and fit the supercharger to begin work on making that fit. A lot of time has been spent getting the engine brackets complete so it sits in the same location as it does in the 90 now, I’ve collected quite the pile of parts so fingers crossed progress should be swift from here on. 1989 90 4.3 V8 2012 L405 OF 2014 D4 HSE Lux (SOLD) 2015 90 HT (SOLD) @d9o.mf |

Click image to enlarge Got this test fitted tonight There’s quite a bit of work involved to get the charger to fit. Coolant pipe from the back of the head needs modification to clear the SC. Some kind of front plate needs to be made to add idlers/tensioners to get the belt up to the SC pulley. Making of coolant lines for the charge cooler. Intake pipe work…. ….Guess I best get cracking. 1989 90 4.3 V8 2012 L405 OF 2014 D4 HSE Lux (SOLD) 2015 90 HT (SOLD) @d9o.mf |
