If as X-dynamic hse says in his original post that the recall was only released yesterday, I would maybe give Land Rover a bit of time to let everyone know if their car is due the recall Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

Apparently it’s a firmware update to be done at the dealers takes around 2 hours. Jlr won’t be contacting customers by post. Apparently you contact the dealer or in for service then it will be done. That’s my understanding. Pretty poor if you ask me. Why can’t they over the air update vehicles effected i thought that was the idea of all this over the air stuff to save going miles to dealerships.🙈

I have an appointment for it at the workshop next week. Only new software is installed and no parts are exchanged. When I talked to the dealership they said that the problem may or may not be with my vehicle. I don't think it's a serious defect and, if the customer doesn't know about the error, it will be fixed at the next scheduled visit to the workshop. 23.5MY Defender 110 D250 HSE

I was wondering the same??

Anyone know what the recall entails?

Hi all,

Phoned up dealer today to book car in for the security enhancement N836 recall and the service advisor said that there was another campaign for the car and she would book it in for both at the same time. They never said what N846 entails mind you 110 D300 XD HSE, Carpathian, Tow pack. Air Susp pack, cold pack, hud,

Could be related to this issue that a few of us with 2023 MY have hit.

https://landroverforums.com/forum/2020-def...ed-118922/

The description of the campaign fits. Sometimes after starting the ignition, the BiSG isn't charging the battery at all. Cycling the ignition clears the fault shown on the display and you're good to drive until the next time it happens.

It’s across the LR range of vehicles and even stopped the production line for a while.

I reported the fault on my FFRR that was new in June of this year and thy had no fix so refunded me in full - now have an X7!

Apparently the manufacturer of the starter motor/alternator/ unit was going bust bet were putting out faulty units that LR were fitting on the D250/300/350 engines and once LR found out they could not find an alternative supplier!

If the light and warnings don’t come on within 100 yards of driving you will be fine but if they do then stop asap as if you don’t the car will due to no charge being produced and will only run for 10mins or so.

Beware if you continue to drive as it may stop and an inconvenience position or worse when travelling fast on a motorway Big Cry Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

"UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

I had this issue a while back, I put a threead up about it. I had the warning come on several times. First time I called the AA who just stated no faults found, call dealership if it happens again.
Next couple of times, I stopped, cycled the ign and issue went away.
The last time it happened, I left Frome to go to Dratmoor. Managed almost 100 miles with warning on and then it finaly cut out on the M5. Not a nice position to be in.
Sat at dealers for al;most 6 weeks before it was fixed. Ended up with new alternator, main battery, and wiring harness and a few other bits.
Been fine ever since, but mine is showing as needing this softwear patch.

I'm assuming it'll get done when it goes in for first service. My dash has just told me it needs a service at 15K and 10 months old. 110 D250 SE HT

I am about to pick up my first brand new defender 110 this week. It is a 2024, and when I was searching for my window sticker, I came across TOPix, and when I ran a search for my vin, this message came up..."N846 - BISG CHARGING INOPERATIVE ON FIRST STARTUP"

What should I be saying to the dealer to
Make sure this issue is addressed? Also is this something that I should kill the deal over?

Got a letter in today from LR telling me about the N846 BISG issue and to book it in for the software update to prevent the issue from arising.

Had the car in to the dealers yesterday for the security N836 and the N846 was carried out then too. Was in and out of dealers in a few hours and was able to get the work done within 2 weeks of phoning for appointment so good service from the dealer 110 D300 XD HSE, Carpathian, Tow pack. Not a deal killer by any means. Got a letter in today which states that “ on certain mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV) we have found that the Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) can go into fail safe mode on first start up, resulting in no charging to the 48v and 12v batteries. A charging warning message may be displayed on the instrument cluster”

Mine is a diesel model and it just requires a software update for a potential issue which I had carried out yesterday but I have not had any issues as detailed in the letter. 110 D300 XD HSE, Carpathian, Tow pack. Air Susp pack, cold pack, hud,

Anyone know what production is included in this recall? My 2022 D250 has no outstanding recalls. Has it only happened on more recent models built in the later part of 2023?
