It's a paved road so should be just fine. If it is like any of the back roads up here in Denbighshire then it is going to be extremely wet, so slow as you go and keep of the verges as they are soft. Beautiful road for a back road drive. Have fun.

I've traveled that road lots of times, only once has there been water over the road, at the bridges, then it was only about a foot deep. You'll be fine. The timber Lorries are using it at the moment.
Keep an eye open for this beast! Click image to enlarge |

It was a week ago, there's another one behind the barn which can be seen from the bridleway. I think that there would be some other cool stuff behind the farm, but there's no right of way past to take a look.

I did the trip with no problems, although some of the crests were totally blind until I remembered the "glass bonnet" camera! The water levels were nowhere near flowing over the bridges. I wouldn't want to do it in the summer, just because of the oncoming traffic. Respect to anyone road rallying across the Pass!
And by a fluke, I stopped in the gateway in front of the AEC Militant to reply to a message. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 90 D250 HSE, Pangea Green with tan interior and fabric sunroof. |

I did, and if I’d left two hours earlier, the sun would have been shining. 90 D250 HSE, Pangea Green with tan interior and fabric sunroof.

Did this pass on a night rally many years ago in 1275 Cooper S. Fortunately I had a great navigator who called all the bends superbly but perhaps just as well as in the dark I couldn’t see the drops to either side or I would have been even more terrified! Good fun though. Only problem we had was stopping at the time control at the end due to brake fade!

It looks stunning - I’d never heard of it until now so thanks for raising my awareness 👍
I definitely want to drive it - but not quite like Nuclear Nick |

You can make a nice circular trip if you incorporate the old road from Pontrhydfendigaid to Abergwesyn (better known as Strata Florida, after the abbey it passes) which comes out approximately half-way between Abergwesyn and Tregaron.
It is unfortunate however that this track has become a magnet for the off-road-moron brigade in recent years, and has changed almost beyond recognition from the gentle isolated ancient route it was 30 or 40 years ago. It is also sensible to be careful in the wet season, since some of the many water-crossings will be deep. It is not for the inexperienced if driven solo, but much more enjoyable solo. |
