Washer jets from a dismal squirt to power....

OK so winters is coming....

Our defenders have pretty poor jets compared to 'normal' cars (or maybe its just mine)

Any way looking at the CSI parts jet then the Optimill one I was about to buy one.

Went out at lunch, with a Pin, Concentrated Screen wash and water.

Stuck pin in and wiggled, kept finger on jet... ok bit better. Kept finger on jet for maybe 5 minutes and every now and then stopped to clean the jet hole with a pin.

Repeat another 5 minutes.

Now the Jets have gone from just about hitting the bottom of the window to almost hitting the top

I filled up with concentrated screen wash and water, So if yours are bad it has to be worth a try? Literally 15 minutes start to finish and potentially saved £200

Not saying it will carry on like this but its 200% better than it was 15 minutes ago

I only just recently drilled out the Freelander jets, they were corroded & a pile of crud came out. I only ever put clean water in tank with some debugging detergent. So don't get it.

While at it I drilled out the 4 holes, can't quite remember the starting point, but I think about 0.55mm (I have drills down to 0.3mm, they are tiny) & drilled up in steps of 0.1mm stopping at 0.85mm. you do need to drill up in steps to avoid snapping a drill bit. beyond 0.85mm the pressure was going to drop a bit too much I feel. With a 5L tank there's still enough water between refills. But now I am happy with the increase volume on the windscreen.

Use some cutting fluid on the drill bits. Visitor - Freelander owner

Instead of using a detergent in the washer fluid, add a few tablespoons of white vinegar: it'll keep the lines clear and give you a very clean & strek-free windscreen
