I do plan on putting some foam padding under the tray. Got the frame painted and the remaining floor panels cut today. Need to cut the outer walls and partitions and then fasten everything to the frame with rivnuts and screws. It might be next week before I can work on it again.

Skinning the frame with 1/2" Baltic birch plywood fastened to rivnuts in the frame with 10-24 truss head stainless screws. A dull drill bit is slowing the progress.

Click image to enlarge Although I could sleep in the back of the 110, I have a roof tent on my D90 that I can put on the roof rack but usually I just tow my Eriba Puck travel trailer that I imported from the UK three years ago |

I would have liked a Defender, other half really wanted one. Street parking is 100 spaces short for our street according to Council. But our first problem was garage height. The Freelander just scrapes in by mm if I am sitting in it. 1950s structure for cars of that era was smaller.
We would have gone roof tent, but we carry second spare wheel, solar panels, 50L of fuel, sand tracks, sand flag & awning. A bit over limit so try to avoid filling tanks etc where possible.
