United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black
Heated Windscreen Fault
Hi all,

I have recently purchased a defender 110 2.4 Puma XS. I noticed that the heated windscreen doesn't seem to be working. The light on the switch doesn't come on and there is no voltage reaching the screen.

I have checked for continuity across the screen and that seems to be fine. the switch is working and the fuse is fine. I noticed the relay doesn't seem to be actuating when the button is pressed so I swapped this with 1 I know to be okay but this has made no difference.

Can anyone suggest where I should look next?

Hiya,
Is it 'factory fitted' or an aftermarket screen..??
An aftermarket screen should/could have a timer relay between the switch and the power relay i.e. Pushing the switch in the dash starts the 'timer relay' off which energises the 'power relay'.

Good luck..

Also note it will only work with the engine running, it will not work if you just turn on the ignition.

Hi,

This is a factory fitted screen but is does have a timer. Is there any way to check that this is working correctly?

I have tried it with the engine runner and the relay is still not activating.

Have you traced the earth? Should be a big one from the screen and a smaller one from the relay. Because the light is not coming on I suspect that power is not exciting the relay. Or the relay is faulty. Test whether the switch is getting 12v first then work towards the relay. Multimeter is your friend here. Just be methodical. Thumbs Up
