Bulkhead - Double or Single Skinned?
Accepting that a Bulkhead replacement may be sooner than I'd like....

DDS et al the make double skinned ones claim it's the right way.

Shielder et al (and YRM) make single skinned ones/repair panels as it "eliminates water traps" and presumably is easier.

Which is actually better?

For what it's worth, the DDS ones seem to have a good reputation for fitting well, which definitely counts for a lot.

been covered a few times on here and other forums.

avoid the irish ones as they dont fit...read the unbiased reviews on the wb
Cambrian 4x4 did a very fair write up of how long it took them to fit one...and yes they are a proper 4x4 lr workshop.

dds and richards are the same product and fit 100% spot on.

ultra ones have their issues, no wiper cut outs, no rivnuts fitted , you have drill holes and fill them square to fit the plastic rivnuts to name a few.

Thanks, guess the double vs single skin element is irrelevant if the fit isnt right!!

Getting the welder out and buying some repair panels seems more tempting again... Not least from a cost perspective

If you do go down that route, I am about to list for sale a very good 300tdi bulkhead, along with two OE spec footwells (with proper ribbed stiffeners). Yours for much less than the cost of a new one. Wink 1985 127 V8 Build Thread
