Thanks for the info on the new part. They just replaced the hose on mine too and it’s still very close to the intake canister, so I’ll do the same in time.

Does it have anything inside it or is that the only part required for the swap?

Oh l am sure the dealership would have done it, but the vehicle has already been in once for the fault and they only replaced the hose.

When l got the vehicle back it had scratches on the rear panel that looked like they were done by an automatic car wash.

It's less hassle for me to just buy the part and fit it myself. l'll toss off an email to Land Rover to see if l can get some money back for the part, but l won't hold my breath.

Again,

You take a new Defender into the dealer to fix manufacturing defects. They don't fix it properly and they damage/scratch the vehicle. You give up and say "F*** it, I'll fix it myself"

The part is just a hollow canister. lt comes with a new hose clip to replace the "single use one" at the bottom.

The issue seems to be, that the LR parts list makes no mention of the part being updated. The parts guy took my photo of the updated part (on my friends brand new 90 Commercial)

We just had to order it and see what turned up. The part costs £106. I guess you have to make a choice, most will probably let the dealer do it. l'll report back when l've fitted the part.

Yep. lt was my choice.

The dealer did say that there's now a recall to fit the new part, despite not being able to find it on the system and having to order it "blind" to see what turned up.

But that's what they said last time, and they only replaced the hose.

l suggest you print off the picture l posted of the part, and make a note of the part number, then give it to the service desk when you drop your vehicle off for the work to be done.

Showed them the issue during the 2 year check and they only replaced the hose, but not the air canister. Pretty tight tolerance… will see how it goes.

l've discovered that replacing the canister isn't part of the dealer repair. They just fit an armoured hose.

Realistically the plastic canister is never going to rub through the armoured hose. However after initially refusing, Land Rover are refunding me the £110 cost of the canister.

I have to say, the LR customer service have been very nice, and helpful.

lt was the LR Assist guy who made me concerned back in February, he said he was "surprised" that the round canister was still fitted to my 2022 D250, and it could "rub through the hose in 4,000 miles"

He fitted a cable tie as a temporary repair and after that the canister never touched the hose again anyway.

l am surprised that Land Rover's solution is to replace the hose, and not the canister. The canister is cheap (well, cheap to make) takes 15 minutes to change and doesn't need and water hoses disconnected/coolant replenished

The part could be fitted while the customer waits.

Seems logical to me but that’s what they did.
I told them I saw a new air canister with the cut out on this forum but I guess their hands are tied.
I managed to get through 22k miles before this replacement. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof
