Garett Turbo
Hi everyone,
Just rebuilt my Puma 2.4 engine, I installed a new Garett Turbo and barely 4,000km it’s given in, started by making low tone vibrations which was more evident during idling, now the car has zero boost, Turbo housing seems ok as well as the electricals but noted play on the turbine.
I’m being advised to buy a new turbo, but what are the chances it won’t fail again?

Lanhanks question is justified, please answer it.

When the new turbo was installed, were all the oil lines to the turbo also replaced?

Sorry for the late reply, the first owner really wasn’t the best owner so never really took good care of the vehicle
Rebuild was done on whole engine due to lack of basic maintenance like overdue service, I basically bought a car that wasn’t mechanical sound, seemed like a fun project to try restore it.
I noticed my mechanic didn’t replace the oil pump and I highly doubt the pipes were changed too, I’ll be back to confirm that.
It’s also good to note that I’ve barely done 4,000km since the engine rebuild.

It’s also important to note that this problem also started after an engine wash, before that everything worked by the textbook.

Could you describe the play on the turbine in more detail?
Is it axial or radial? Are there marks on the turbine or on the housing?
