The JLR main dealer in Toulon had a shufti a couple of weeks ago, the leak at the rear is in fact diesel: luckily from the top of the tank so more apparent when it’s full. Being a labour-intensive job I’m hoping this can wait until after Christmas when I can get to the UK.
As for the leak at the front, the gearbox/transfer box (no, I’m not 100% sure which) needed topping up and I was told to come back in 14 days to see how much the level had dropped. That was yesterday, not too much needed and I’m still driving the truck. I’m now waiting for their quote. Bearing in mind this job was previously done a year or so ago, I’m wondering if non-genuine parts had been used or the seal(s) had been correctly installed. At least if the main dealer carries out the work I can be assured genuine parts are used and perhaps some guarantee. But what would be a reasonable number of hours, and the cost of genuine parts? I’m obviously expecting a shock, but it would be nice to know… Peter |

If it is the front output seal of the LT230 it is very quick and straightforward to change, it's a half-hour job. If it is somewhere else it is likely to be more, depending on where it is and what has to come off to sort it out.
