90 D250 fuel economy

I’ve just had a tot-up of my first 2000 fuel costs. Overall 32.6mpg and a best single journey of 42.5mpg. I’m happy with that given that I’m based in a hilly part of mid-Wales. 90 D250 HSE, Pangea Green with tan interior and fabric sunroof.

I’ve never done overall fuel economy but my last road trip up to Thurso and the West Coast, it managed 643 miles on one tank. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Averaged 34 over 7,000 miles.

You guys are doing well, l average around 28mpg from my 90 D250

However most of my journeys are shorter. l had to go back 53 journeys in the Land Rover app before l found one that was over 10 miles.

On the occasion l do a longer journey l generally achieve 35-40mpg or around 26mpg towing the caravan

Mine is a good range of long, short, medium journeys, plus a decent chunk of off road work, so it’s a reasonable example of what can be expected. I drive like a little old lady as well!

I run an online Fuelly.com fuel log for mine and here are the numbers since delivery on March 24 this year. Basically anything below 30mpg has been an off-road day entirely in low eange - the 17 to 21 May was a run to Harrogate and back at motorway speed + VAT………….. I’m running 100% of the time on the OEM Goodyear Adventure AT’s too.

Here’s the last 30 entries for my D240 110 that ran on Goodyear Duratracs all the time. Not a vast difference overall but the D250 is so much more pleasant to drive with the additional torque

2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Hi,
When hooking up your caravan does the spare wheel get in the way of the stabiliser?

Yes l have to open the door in order to attach the caravan, making sure the door doesn't hit the handle for the jockey wheel.

After the caravan is attached the door can of course be closed.
