United Kingdom 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS DCPU Corris Grey
Defender Renewal
Posted for information purposes, no real response required Smile

2013 110 DCPU XS owned from new with 38k miles, full rack, roof tent, Trojan back, lights, snorkel.

Spent the last 10 years with A-Plan and Markerstudy and been happy with service.

Markerstudy have “withdrawn from the market” and I cannot renew with them.

As a member of GLASS I approached Lancaster Insurance - no one will quote if vehicle not garaged overnight. Agent confirmed area I live in is very low for crime risk. My personal details present incredibly low risk.

Last option will be Adrian Flux when I summon the mental energy for another 30 minutes of explaining roof top tents and chequer plate.

Beware you’re next renewal… Chris

A-plan have posted on here recently stating that if its a modified classic defender then they should be able to quote... (or that was my interpretation).

Not my experience Jerry, sadly.

Neither Bletchley nor there specialist group insurer based at Thatcham were prepared to quote.

***UPDATE***

Adrian Flux have quoted, beating my previous year’s premium with A-Plan. Chris

The inconsistencies are strange. I renewed through A-Plan (now Howden) a few weeks ago, much the same premium as last year, same underwriter (KGM), same service from the Thatcham branch. I'd moved house and added further mods in the meantime. It feels like a bit of a lottery.

I believe I read that A-Plan will insure Defenders Pre<2011?

I’ll have to double check and post the link. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

That's good news. Need to get onto Adrian Flux to get a quote. A-Plan could not re-quote as that did not know what "other" meant on the original quote, so needed clarification from me. It's a worry that they couldn't tell me what my modifications were, when I specifically told them a year ago. Rolling Eyes
