There is an original accessory that makes a refrigerator available inside the armrest, I think it is a more elegant solution for the type of vehicle.

the 'fridge' as you call it is a 'cool box' that holds about 2ltrs. It is NOT a compressor fridge, that will make ice cubes !
I'm not looking for elegants .......But practically. The vehicle I am building is an overlander style, not a day trip to the seaside !! |

Looks good. We always had a 55L Waeco fridge freezer in the D3 and D4 running off a due battery. Once you've had one you won't look back.
Are you putting in a second battery or using a power bank to power it? Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy. |

Waeco 28L compressor test vs Peltier (with CPU heatsink with two 120mm fans). A small compressor fridge will use about 15AH per 24 hours with a bit of additional insulation.
Test, freezing 10.5kg of water. I gave up with the Peltier. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Polished aluminium & used thermal paste. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge The Peltier used about 7 amps continuously. The compressor fridge 3.8 amps continuously in this test (compressor started cycling on & off at 46 hours) I have the fridge pretty much permanently in use in the car on 4 x 26AH gel batteries. I would be lost without it (the coldest spot in the fridge where the evaporator plate starts is as low as -26°C). Visitor - Freelander owner |

I think the new Land Rover Fridge is in fact a a compressor fridge, but it is tiny and costs 10 times the price of any other compressor fridge. It has a capacity of 4 cans at best.
I have, for past 10 years had a engel fridge in my D4, I took the middle second row seat out. In my Defeneder I have put a cheap ($175) compressor fridge behind the center console on the floor, it holds 8 x 600ml bottles of watter or 8 cans/bottles of beverage. Uses ![]() ![]() |

the arm rest 'fridge' in a L663, is a Peltier pump, fan airflow assisted, not a compressor. I did research before I bought my 15Ltr compressor fridge.

Depending on the internal layout of the fridge. If the fridge has a useless "butter" area which should be colder, fold over a piece of aluminium sheet. I used a cooking tray as it was easy to bend. Previously used a dozen layers of cooking foil which worked very well, just trying to tidy things up.

I don't have one but from what I have seen they don't look like the old peltier fridges that we had in the D4/3 There is a pic of them in this thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82234.html and you can google the part number LR130717.
That is what I was going on, still verty pricey for what they offer. MY23.5 SE Defender |

Link to fridge, it's a compressor fridge, abate old technology.
Fridges with a compact condenser are easier to cool. ![]() Click image to enlarge (I pull the fridge apart after each outback trip to blow out the red dust) Visitor - Freelander owner |
