Do you have air suspension? It can make a single bong if you have not got it in auto lower/rise mode / access mode and you pull away lowered down and exceed 10mph IIRC, you also should get a brief message on the dash telling you the car is raising to normal height. You will also get bongs if you have pulled away with it locked down in access mode. Inexperienced person here, but possibly helpful…
On my test drives of a D250 HSE, there was repeated annoying bonging as you describe. It was caused by the driver assistance setting being on max, so it bongs at every speed limit change, every time you exceed the speed limit, and so on. To turn it off, I found the driver assistance button on the centre console and pressed it to cycle from max to medium to minimum. Annoyingly it resets to max every time you start the car but it looks to be tweakable by some 3rd party specialists to remember the last setting. |

Correct. I’ve had to learn to press the new Driver Assistance button on the steering wheel three times whenever I start a journey. 90 D250 HSE, Pangea Green with tan interior and fabric sunroof.

...okay, that sounds logical (annoying, but logical) - I will try that later today and will report back.
Thanks |

I had a loaner with it it’s very annoying. You can setup the custom profile to not beep it then Takes two presses on the steering wheel button every time you startup. Really annoying feature. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

What does it do, just warn you about various things like speed limits?
Be useful in Wales, was there last week and on one stretch of road there were five changes of speed limit in under two miles. Plus a partially hidden speed camera van half way along! With the new 20mph limits it's a nightmare. Plus between Rhyl and Prestatyn there's some truly vicious speed bumps on the side roads. |

I'm just hoping they don't spring this on owners with older cars via a Pivi upgrade Cheers Ian

Agreed Ian, but I think that could be challenged legally and I’d be the first to join a class action!

The problem is, driving standards are in the main so poor, that people need the car to think for them.
l've just driven locally between two towns and the roads were full of people bashing their big cars about, seemingly either oblivious or just not caring about anything else on the road. |
