No check engine light or any other indication of something going wrong apart from the momentary loss of power and sudden needle spike and return. Otherwise, drives like new all day long. No coolant issues either.... Just fix it before your friends find out it broke again - Landy Life Forever! |

Then that would indicate a VCV issue, very common on 2.4s with lots different symptoms.
The only thing that confuses me is the temp gauge flicking to high then dropping to cold. Ps make sure it’s a proper Denso replacement from a reputable supplier if you choose to change it. Lots of topics on here re 2.4 VCV. |

The loss of power and temp gauge shooting up momentarily has been discussed here before.
If I recall correctly it was head temp sensor issue. Not connected with cooling system as such. Have a search. 2011 130 Utility Body 2005 110 Van |

The cylinder head temperature sensor was my initial thought as well, and for circa £30 -£40 is the lowest cost easiest thing to replace.

This sounds to me like a momentary loss of power to the main relay under the seat or the ECM, so in effect the ECM is shutting down the engine which then restarts (because you are still moving) as the power returns. It won't generate a fault code since in effect it thinks you've switched off and on. Check electrical continuity to the relays (in particular the firmness of the individual spade connectors) as well as ECM earths. |
