Tyre performance comparison - spider chart
Dug this out from a 2021 Defender brochure (probably a US version looking at the spelling of tyres!) - apologies to those of you who’ve seen it before.
I find it a helpful way to understand the trade-offs between the regular all-seasons vs off-road options. All seasons appear to perform better on 5 of the 9 parameters shown including those that I feel are most important most of the time so that’s what I’ll be going with. Without seeing this, I’d have guessed that off-road would have been better in snow.
Interested to hear from others to see if their experience matches what the chart is indicating.

Snow performance is dependant on the conditions. In the UK we get very little snow and what we have lasts for a short while. And it is often quite wet snow and wet underneath. Therefore performance will vary on what you want to do.
Snow testing is done in artic areas with very different snow and conditions that what we generally have in the UK.
