Did you replace them with Bri Whistle pistons? Puma 110" SW

So I splitted one front caliper and the part metioned below does not fit.

In the process of full brake system rebuild. NOT sure how things really worked because 6 out of the 8 pistons i pushed out today were stuck.

I drilled a 4mm hole close to the edge and wiggled the drill toward the edge/lip and then inserted a flat screw driver and hammered it tight in the groove and spun them back and forth until they got a bit loose. that It was easy to remove them as I levered a bit on the screw driver as I twisted them back and forth.

The calipers were sand blasted with all ports plugged and pistons still in place to avoid dirt ingress. Primed with red lead, undercoated and given a coat of 2K gloss black.

The part of the caliper housing between the fluid seal and dust seal rusts and locks the piston. I will sand it with a fine sand paper and I will put S.S. pistons whilst applying plenty of either rubber grease or silicone grease between the two seals.

I have not removed the fluid seal yet. seems like the seal does not sit square against the piston. when i run my finger along the bore going out I can feel like a lip but if i slide my finger inwards there is no lip. i have read or watched a "Tool Box video" on youtube which noted it. it acts as a spring to help pop the piston inwards once brake is released. Any thoughts about this?

I tend to push old pistons out when fitted to vehicle using brake pedal if need be plumbers pliers to rotate them too.

If still stuck which is unusual an angle grinder to make a slot then lever out.

When refitting inuse same method as retroconda, small bit of piston exposed and slide wiper and dust cover over piston and into position.

A large socket is also useful for pushing them down evenly into place if piston has gone too far.

In initial post there is a comment that pistons can't be pushed all the way home, I haven't found this or have misunderstood the para. Cheers

I've had to drill and tap a hole in the base of the piston and use a jackscrew to extract it before now.
