Hi,
Has anyone tried installing this? A bit hard to understand the instructional video since it is in Chinese. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004858247459.html China sellers sell the product without instructions which was made clear before buying the item. Hunters Prestige sell the exact same thing it seems but they do not offer any videos for install and do it in person only https://huntersprestige.com/products/fuel-...&_ss=r I have bought the item from Aliexpress and opened the section under the glovebox too but hard to locate the wire that is shown in the video. There are two boxes I believe there. One is the passenger fusebox(only one I see) and the other is the body control module box I found some photos online showing how it all looks behind the box and the cable I need is definitely the one going into BCM as the fusebox connectors seem non-removable. Any pointers on how to get to the BCM? fusebox front Click image to enlarge fusebox back Click image to enlarge bcm front Click image to enlarge bcm back Click image to enlarge |

Just fit a locking fuel cap. Available for around £20 and actually much more secure than the locking flap, which will only get damaged if someone does decide to try and steal your fuel.

I can def understand the desire to go with the OEM solution vs a locking fuel cap. First, if you're worried about vandalism, on a diesel you still have the AdBlue filler that can be tampered with. Second, everything is already there: the fuel door lock, the solenoid and even the wiring - it is even connected. LR just left out whatever chip controls the fuel door lock due to the chip shortage. Simon (Powerful UK) explains it quite well here:
They sell a fuel door lock retrofit kit which, to save from having to dissect your entire Defender to access wiring, works by sensing a running motor through charging voltage and then unlocks the fuel door, re-locking it 10 minutes after the car has been turned off. A smart work-around. https://www.powerfuluk.com/products/lockin...amp;_v=1.0 Despite all this I really like the idea of "as OEM as possible" too. If the wiring is already there, why not use it? The fusebox connectors will be removable to allow fusebox installation or replacement - the wiring harness is not one with the fusebox. But I've never removed the connectors from an L663 fusebox, so I can not tell you how... And the vid on the Aliexpress product page shows the guy de-pinning a BCM connector and adding a 'bridge connector' with a new pin. That will all be in the kit, no? Would you even want to get at the fusebox? Is the locking signal at the fusebox or just power for the module? I don't know if even I (as anal as all hell about my installations) would go so far as to remove a fusebox just to source constant 12V. As for the BCM location: Click image to enlarge Please post how you get on - poss with pics if you can. RRC 2Dr, RRC 4Dr, P38, and 2 L322s, 2 FL1s and a L663 on the way |

The guy in the video is sourcing the power for the custom board from the fusebox, that'a all. But to talk to the fuel cap lock, they intercept the connection via the harness going into BCM. There are 3 connectors in total. one for ground, one for power and one goes to the BCM harness.
I will see if I am brave enough to remove the fusebox. Here is a photo of the device I bought from Aliexpress (I removed it from the box to take photo) Click image to enlarge |

Hi,
Thanks for confirming that it works. I have seen the video already a few times. The trouble I had was locating the correct cable so was thinking of removing the passenger fuse box. Mine is a MY 23.5 D300 SE. Will give it another go on the weekend. |

Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge There are only two black wires on the plug and these are the two. One of mine is even marked with electrical tape. I took a photo of it all so that I can restore it if necessary... but I don't think so After everything was connected, it took a while for me to get it working. I think that the batteries in the module have just supplied themselves with power. If the fuel cap closes when you unlock the car, simply turn the two wires around. I did all of this myself and I'm not an expert. so I don't think it's difficult to install I borrowed the tool from a well-known mechanic to eject the wires from the existing connector. 23.5MY Defender 110 D250 HSE |

So... silly question on my part, but there are 4 wires to the module: 12V, Gnd and the 2 wires marked M+ and M- on mani's pic of the board above which go to the solenoid motor on the filler door.
Correct? So where is the lock / unlock signal coming from? RRC 2Dr, RRC 4Dr, P38, and 2 L322s, 2 FL1s and a L663 on the way |

Click image to enlarge Here is another picture of the module. In the previous post I took a picture of the Defender's connector. Take the two black wires from this and pin them into the plug with the blue and white wires from the module. I think these are the signal transmitters. 23.5MY Defender 110 D250 HSE |
