Not for me eaither, but then I loathe all roof lights / light bars. An unneccessary affectation which UK defender owners seem to suffer from.

just get some extreme brilliance bulbs for your main lights, job done.

That is OK Mike until the main light switch burns out.

That is why I recommend additional lights to be on a completely separate light circuit. OK even if the lights are E marked, wired like this they are illegal for road use. However they are rather useful when that light switch burns outs.

Not into roof lights at all .... but if you must have them, they must be rectangular

Agreed. Although round ones are fine if they are standard fitment Thumbs Up John

Round ones do tend to look better upside down and with bigger racks (tee hee) IMHO. I like JWL's photo below. That's how I plan to mount two on our Brownchurch.

Mine work well in that position, they are only those el-cheapo(ha) 100w things at about £40 but in that position I can still load up the roofrack with 5.4m timber framing flat on the roofrack without the lights fouling. there is very little glare from the lights off the bonnet even though it is plain chequerplate. I can see the very bottom of the lights from the drivers seat, but only just. The one thing I did find when they were mounted "wrong way up" was that there must be a slight prism in the lens as it gave a slightly wierd pattern on the road in front and to match a pool of light in front with all lights on put them at a funny angle, so I turned the lens bowl 180' and there were no dark spots/shadows in front with the lights looking "right" in their position. For cheap lights they have done me well, they've been on 2 other Land Rovers and 2 must be at least 6 years old and the other pair 10 years of age. Yes there's a bit of rust appearing but(going to regret this) I've only had to replace 1 bulb.

Here you go:

I'm thinking I might put two rectangular ones on the rack and keep two of the round ones for the bumper.

Over the years I've bought them from MM4x4 by Worcester, if this works here's a link.... http://www.mm-4x4.com/8-wipac-4x4-driving-...2481-p.asp
