I had a close up look at one yesterday. Well put together.
I still can't get over the weight however. With a kerb weight of 2800kg, you get 5 people in there and there's not much load capacity left before you're over 3500kg. Also means you can't run it as a company van if you buy the 5 seat commercial as it doesn't have a 1 ton payload so you get stuffed for a huge company car tax bill |

I was looking last week at the one (yes, as far as I could see, only one) that they are using on La Vuelta to support the cycling team. It looks well thought out and I have been considering whether it could replace my 2.2 Puma 110 Utility XS. I was encouraged by the (quote) 'Commercial certified' statement on the website and went so far as to ask for a "+ VAT" price. There isn't one. The Grenadier may well be 'certified' `as a Commercial Vehicle at DVLA, but it isn't recognised as a commercial vehicle by HMRC. So you get all the disadvantages of a van (lower speed limits etc) and none of the advantages (VAT). So as a work vehicle, with work only miles, it's a non-starter. I'm also tempted to think that they've 'shot themselves in the foot' but I'm more likely to believe that they have done their homework, crunched the numbers, and decided that the commercial market is not where its at. Ironic really considering that the one supporting La Vuelta is 100% business mileage!

I've had a good look at some new ones at a show, very nice inside. I quite liked it, apart from the front, which I didn't like, but I suspect that the aftermarket will come up with a which bumper and some different headlamp surrounds.
