I'm not over familiar with that part of the world. How freasible/enjoyable would it be to go to the show in the morning and then into York for a wander around in the afternoon? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Very feasible, and York is lovely to walk around. I would recommend using the park and ride though, parking in York is limited and expensive. 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power

Thanks. Would you feel safe leaving your Defender in the park and ride? What's security like? I wouldn't leave mine in a train station car park for example. We may have the dog with us which would rule out the bus I think anyway. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Dogs are allowed on the buses so you should be fine. I'd probably use the McArthur Glen designer outlet as your park and ride site. It's busy and I'd not have concerns leaving my Defender there. 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power

York is a fantastic city, I visit quite a lot.
Great old buildings, small specialist shops, hundreds of restaurants , pubs and bars and micro brewery. All nicely compacted within the ancient city walls. I was there about 6 weeks ago watching dragon boat racing on the river Ouse that runs through the city. |

I should have said I have been to York a few times before, just never by car. I was mainly thinking of the logistics of taking in the show and city in one day in an enjoyable way. I’ll pikelygive the park and ride a go. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

The McArthur Glen designer outlet Park and Ride site is off the same junction of the A64 as the show, so no distance at all. As folks have stated, York is great with loads to see. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....
