Bear in mind that the road noise is mainly due to the uneven wear, and the tyres will still be unevenly worn when reversed. It will take quite some time for the uneven to reduce due to further wear, so don't expect instant improvements.
Ideally the periodic swapping around of tyres should take place before they are significantly and unevenly worn. |

Yes, the noise is very reminiscent of a dodgy wheel bearing - or worse, but I'm relieved to be able to actually see that the tyres are arguably causing the noise. The car is pretty much stock and I'm thinking that I'd like to keep it that way - so it'll probably be another set of Conti's if it comes to it.

How often should this be done? I remember that I planned to do rotate every 10,000 kms but found that discrepancy between fronts and rears to be too great to rotate. Then I tried 5,000 kms and had the same result but the discrepancy wasn't that great anymore. Does this mean I have to try 2,500 kms now? Next questions are, what pattern do we use to rotate and do we include the spare? |

due to this problem with my original tyres I rotate mine including the spare at my annual service which for me is about 4k miles, I do this with the service as it is a good reminder for me, I guess if you were doing big mileages a more frequent regime may be beneficial.
I include my spare as my mileages are low and my old tyres had good tread after 40k miles and were only changed due to a wheel upgrade, also I like 5 matching tyres and I'm expecting these to last another 10+ years at which point I should probably be changing them anyway due to degradation DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

How often depends on how quickly the tyre rear. On my 110 the front and rear tyres wear at the same rate so I tend just to do FNS <> ROS and FOS <> RNS.

Good article from Cooper on the topic of rotating tyres here: https://www.coopertires.com.au/tyres-expla...our-tyres/
Although I personally don’t bother as never needed to rotate mine… /Mat |
