Interesting to see the results, this is similar to how I find it with mine between 60-70mph is the quietest, which is idea for those longer journeys. (With a 1.2 transfer box). I didn’t find driving between 1000-1700ish much different to stock.

how tight am I supposed to torque the U clamp bolts?

Tight enough but not too tight. Apply the old technique known as "common sense".

Yes, it is quite interesting. I wonder if it really was by design as it's perfect for how I would want it, really very livable with.

Fair enough, it's on there now as "normal" tight but not "very" tight, so probably ok I guess. Rolling with laughter

I was going to get the GTB450 as well but now decided to just get a hybrid

I’m quite privileged having had both! Been running the GTB450 nearly 2 years…. Awesome. I was unconvinced about the vnt until I had it. Yes the figures look similar however the drive is totally different. Having gone the vnt route I wouldn’t go back. It’s much more relaxing to drive, as gear changes become minimal. Fuel economy is also improved. To get the most out of the hybrid you have to Rev it and be in the right gear. I’ve also compared it to a mates highly tuned hybrid TD5, and I know which one is noticeably quicker Whistle it’s totally up to you, your money, but I’d have a go in both before I decided. I’m more than happy to take you out in mine if your ever this way. Thumbs Up

Thought I would report back as I decided to bite the bullet and went for the GTB450 turbo from alive in the end.

The drive is obviously now awesome with much better power etc but a happy coincidence is that this seems to have completely resolved the droning as mentioned before which did happened at specific rpm.

I don't know if this is to do with the new turbo changing the resonance frequency of the system or if it's just the engine not struggling like before but overall my truck is actually now much quieter. So much so that my wife commented on this....

Just thought I would put it out there in case anyone needs to convince the other half on a new turbo.. Laughing

Yes, definitely. I really can't say how happy I am now with this setup.

Power is way more than enough if you push it but as mentioned many times by other, because of the increase torque in the low end, you can drive it much more lazily which makes it much more comfortable which for me is the main thing.

Before this I was starting to have doubts on using it as a family car, was already looking at just making this a soft top for local drives and get something else for further away but this really changed the game for me.
