If adaptive cruise is available, it is a deal breaker option for me. A must have. I use it all the time and especially in a heavy, blinding rain storm, it can see better than me.

@Bruce (OP) wondering if you ever managed to retrofit the ACC to your Defender? I'm also in SA and also looking into it.

Compared to other cars I've had, the ACC on my Defender is crude, slow to react and gets confused switching lanes with slower vehicles you are overtaking. I use it but don't like it. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

I've found that ACC struggles a bit in very heavy rain / snow. I'm not sure if it's the amount of liquid on the sensors or if it's the mass of water between my vehicle and the next causing confusion, but on a couple of occasions it's simply given up and told me to drive the damn thing myself.

I do, however, really like it and use it a lot.

I believe the ACC uses both the camera and radar, and the few times I've tried it under extreme rain and snow it does cut out.

Having said that I prefer and feel much more in control of the vehicle if I drive it myself under those conditions. ACC has a habit of taking off like a scalded cat when the road clears and is a little slow on the brakes when cars bunch up. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof
