Interesting video - when I spoke to dealer stated that orders being taken for MY24 - albeit no spec available as to what the changes will be.

Yes agreed Retro. This is the result of the knucklehead legislation from Brussels mandated for new cars from 2024 and sadly accepted by UK govt although after Brexit they didn't need to. It's the main reason I bought my Defender when I did and intend keeping other cars I own long term.

The legislation doesn't mandate retrofitting thankfully, that would be a massive and expensive task that would require new hardware in most cases, eg the new steering wheel button.

At least you can turn it off (the speed stuff).

My wife’s Audi has traffic sign recognition, which sometimes gets confused, which would not matter except unless you delve into many menus to try to turn it off it decides to slow the car down to match the sign it thinks it saw, or the speed limit the Satnav thinks is in place. It got confused in France on the peage and slowed us from 140 km/h to 80 rather suddenly. This is something which is supposed to increase safety FFS.

My MY23 Defender reads the signs but fortunately has never tried to act on one.

Oh the joy.

I am with the others, I have bought my last new car.

All a bit too much IMHO but might be more to do with legislation... seems like they copied BMW with that button.

Speaking of which, that button on the steering wheel is blanked out for me, but I can just about make out the outline of a car (?) My car is MY22. Maybe LR knew it would be activated somewhere down the line with an OTA update and has blanked it off for now.

On the iGuide I thought it was blanked out, but looking at it now it shows something similar to LKA with "AP" written on the top (instead of a car symbol in the video) .... no explanation given.

All those features look to be on my MY23.5, just not on that one same screen.

"Defaulting to high" at every ignition start.. Big Cry

Honestly, lane keeping assist can be deadly - it gets quite confused, quite easily.
A fun one I commonly see is if I am in the 1st lane of a motorway as I approach a slip lane, lane assist detects the large 'straight on' arrow painted on the tarmac, interprets it as a new lane which Im now straddling, and tries to swerve me into lane 2 as a correction..

I've also got a severe dislike to the collision avoidance system which can't cope with cyclists filtering in slow moving traffic, and insists on slamming the anchors one with a massive delay and little warning..

Does anyone know if these things can be turned off using the diagnostic tool?

It's all a mystery and very strange! I have my 2 year service next month and will ask them what is happening.
By the by, My Pivi Pro is still on version 3.2.1. Seems like in Japan we are second class owners... 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

I think that would be adaptive cruise control, if it was specified? 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

The Adaptive Cruise Control is on the right (press once for ACC, press again to use the speed limit function).
Are you saying they would move that button to the left (where it's blanked out)? That would be really confusing.

I downloaded the MY24 manual and the blanked out button that inith5 has is the same is indicated.
So the blanked out button on my car and in the MY22 manual match, and they are different to MY24.
I've never seen that button lit or 'active' on any video/social media post and I don't think it's a spec issue.

The annoying thing is when you ask the dealer, many times they are none the wiser or blame it on poor HQ communication (which can be true) 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

My March 2023 90 just had the OTA update installed last night when I parked it, so it looks like I will have fun this morning seeing what new unwanted things I have got!

Would love it if the software developers would modify the remote start/ preconditioning system so it does what my Mini does in preconditioning mode - heat the heated front seats to the lowest warmth setting and activate the heated steering wheel on cold mornings during the cabin pre-conditioning! Now that would be something really useful with winter coming on and shouldn’t be too difficult to code up. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!
