A pneumatic rivetter is both unnecessary and overkill and in the hands of the inexperienced is very likely to do catastrophic damage to the body. A suitable rivet snap and block (and maybe an extra set of hands from an assistant) is much safer.
Which rivets are you needing to fit? There are various sizes in various places. |

Thanks Blackwolf. I need to replace the aluminium seat box side/end panel on the near side then attach a new steel battery box up into it. I'm fairly apt at metal fabrication but have never had a need for solid rivets so appreciate your caution using a gun.

You can get a very reasonable finish with solid rivets. Size wise I've always worked on - Min rivet Diameter= thickest sheet Max rivet Dia = 3x thickest sheet Min dia structural 3/32" Length 1.5 x dia + grip Spacing 4 to 8 x dia Dist from edge - flush head 2.5 x dia shank.... Non flush 2x Click image to enlarge Cheers Laurie 90 rebuild thread - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62909.html |
