Recall on 2.2 turbo pipe. Fitted and broke already!
Had a call yesterday from my friendly land rover dealer to inform me that my vehicle needed to come in for a recall on a pipe for the turbo. They called it the charge cooler hose. Any way I told them they must have fitted the newer version of this pipe when my last pipe split. The original pipe was a short L shape pipe coming straight of the turbo and onto a plastic pipe going to the front if the engine bay. The replacement pipe now does away with the plastic section and is now one long rubber hose.
Get yours replaced before yours blows off or splits.

Called my dealer today and yes it's a change over but they weren't gonna call to inform , they'd rather I broke down first .

I noticed my turbo pipe was not all the way on (following discussions on hrre) and asked the dealer to look at it while they were replacing another hose that had rubbed through, lost all my coolant and left me stranded at the side of the road. I asked if they had sorted it and thry said yes. It is the ssme hose in the same (not quite completely on) place. Maybe now there is a recall they might deign to look at it.

Anybody got a picture of this? Or the old part number as well as the replacement part number?

Don't all rush. I'm just sat waiting for land rover assist to come out. Looks like the nice new modified pipe has rubbed through on one of the pulleys. Let you know the outcome when they've been Rolling Eyes

Right, temporary repair done. The pipe had rubbed through on one of the pulley wheels. When the pipe had been removed I could also see it had been rubbing own the steering arm too, this had rubbed through the protective sleeve on the pipe but not yet started to rub through the actual hose. LR assist guy thinks it may have not been put on quite right and needed to be twisted away from the engine more than it had been. There was a big gap between the pipe and the pulley wheel, this just shows how much the engine twists from side to side( I do tow a lot of heavy loads and drive off road a lot). I m not convinced this new pipe will be quite right, twist to far one way and it will touch the pulley and twist to far the other way and it will touch the steering arm. It will just be look if it gets fitted just right.
I ll be on the phone first thing tomorrow for another new hose.
This pipe was only on for 1 month and I would guess 1000 miles ish.

Temp repair split today Rolling Eyes land rover assist out again and another repair done. Looks like the first repair did not have enough tape on. Tried several dealers but none had a pipe in stock.
Booked in for a new pipe on Wednesday. Hope that is end of it.

Well, mine's been in for the pipe today, and I've had the 13MY engine software patched on too.

Certainly better to drive and the drive train clunk is all but gone now.

Had tailgate door adjusted to close nicely too.

All in all, a happy camper.

Is it wrong to just want to go out for a drive now?

JH Currently....... all gone...... pending delivery of a mid life crisis.......
Previously..... Quite a few! I really am a sucker for them!

something tells me the turbo on the 2.2 is working ALLOT harder than on the 2.4 to make up that extra power on a smaller engine...

hi boys and girls,

I had my hose done quite a few months ago and all is well (for now anyhow) . I am in for a service next week and wanted to enquire about the software update. Is this something thats general knowledge (ie, should the dealer be aware of it?)

thanks

Ok so recall on MY12 2.2 turbo pipe was done today , dealer says it was perfect with no cracking or wear . They say mostly only vehicles which heavy tow are prone to blow-offs or wear but it was replaced anyway . Whilst it was in they also updated the MY13 softwear without any problem and asked me to let em know if I feel any difference . Also found that the nuts holding the front steering damper on were loose . Good dealer service fora change .

Can you be specific please? What makes you think this? Have you managed to check both vehicles on a Dyno and checked mass flow rates, torque etc... for speeds across all gears. I'm really interested in seeing that level of analyses. Thanks Marius.
