Upgraded Seats ?
Hi,

We've off to the French/Spanish border this summer and Mrs Superspoons has commented that the Defender will be uncomfortable for us and the 2 children. Shocked She has mentioned on more than one occasion about changing it for a Discovery 3. Now...as nice asa Disco3 is, I really don't fancy one.

I'd rather spend some money on nicer seats for all of us for the trip - can anyone recommend some comfy ones ? any other things I should be looking in? It already has air-con beign a XS CSW. Cheers,
Superspoons

If it helps, Mrs Tiger complains about the D3 seats.

The conversation is almost scripted and goes like this, usually about the 150 miles mark...

MT - I find these seats really uncomfortable

T - I know, you've said (we have had the car 7 years and done 90k!!!! )

MT - I wish you could adjust the headrest

T - It's not a headrest it's a head restraint, safety not comfort

MT - Well you should be able to move it so you can get comfy

Wait a while and then repeat....

(I also know you can mod them so they do move, I haven't told her this Whistle )

Yes, my Dad has '57 D3 and I find the seats pretty uncomfortable in that.

I've had a look around and these look quite good -

SparkyLee,

What would you say makes your seats that bit more comfortable than the originals? Cheers,

I know mines a Td5 but I refoamed mine with an Exmoor kit a few years ago and the then wife and kids were more than happy with travelling in the 110 which resulted in getting rid of the Disco II. After driving an LRE 110 a couple of weeks ago I was shocked on how poor the seats were, I know they're used every day(near enough) but so's mine, but my seats are at least 3 years older and mine are a damn sight more comfortable. So just a thought, try a good stuffing first Whistle

Not to hijack the thread... but on the subject of more comfy seats, are there any aftermarket second row seats that can recline, for a Puma?

I've seen reclining second row seats but for pre 2007 vehicles, but haven't been able to find for post 2007.

I had a set of those in my D1 that had a 2" lift and the side cushion/bolster went on the drivers seat Big Cry Contacted Scheelman and they said all they could do was replace the whole base at a stupid cost (£400+) so I decided to live with it but it was a real shame and a real let down from them for customer service Exclamation Exclamation

To replace the fronts and rears from Exmoor Trim with heater elements front and back, works out at a mind numbing £2900 Shocked

Cheaper than changing the Defender though... and I can recoup some money selling my XS seats. Time to ring around the distributors and see if any deals can be done. Cheers,

No these are the exmoor ones
The big difference is the firmness of the foam it's completely transformed the ride
Never really thought there was much wrong with standard XS one but these are great
But yes there's a but because im a big lad round not tall I've got mud rails to give me more belly room the extra firmness is chucking me forwards again
But as I got this one for £150 and the or the one for £120 of there ebay site it was worth a try they do
The other problem I've now encountered is I've got a bare box cubby which is huge and the seat bases are higher and my chubby legs make it difficult to reach down to the seatbelt clip
I think I've overcome this with Exmoor's help they are sending me some stalks with the wires which should lift the clip above the mud rail and seat base Thumbs Up
There is this company think they might be able to help seat wise as well

2nd row seats
Thread shift....

If anyone is interested in removing their Puma/TDCI 2nd row seats, I'd very interested in taking them off your hands. My TD5 seats are starting to leave a lasting impression .... Many thanks.
