I too have a problem I believe from reading various threads is down to the vcv. I have found the denso part at £45 on fleabay but from the workshop manual you need to calibrate the valve with the ecm.
Further reading suggests that not all programming tools will do this. Can someone advise which tools can do this and also is it possible to have a LR dealer just do the calibration? Tommy

I can only speak for the programming tools I have experience with, of these Faultmate can, Nanocom cannot. I can't comment on the myriad of other tools now available, but I am sure that more info will be forthcoming.

A dealer should be able to do it for you but is likely to charge 1/2 hour labour, perhaps more, so typically £40 upwards. Most indies should be able to do it as well.

As above, no for a nanocom, yes for faultmate, but it couldn't/wouldn't do mine, so had to take mine to Alive where they used Rovacom (if that's correct) which is what the main dealers use.

IID tool can too, did it on a 07 a month ago.

Looking at the old VCV I could not see why it needed changing.

Ticks over properly after changing it. "Rafiki" 2007 110 STW - Rolling rebuild.

The BAS2 RRC can also calibrate the VCV as well as do the pilot correction learning.

You never can see a difference! It puts me off buying el-cheapo ones on Ebay etc since if someone packaged their old one in the box the new one had come in, chances are you'd never know. You'd just attribute any ongoing issues to some other fault.
