Genuine LR chequer plate wing tops have a foam/rubber gasket between the plate and wing.
I also have LR sill covers but I am not sure if there is a gasket behind them. The LR sill plates are screwed into rivnuts. Bob |

Cheers Bob
I'll take a look at genuine LR then, it always puts me off with the prices they charge though RRS tdv8 08 Disco 3 HSE 57 Defender 90 xs 06 All gone |

Mammoth CP gets excellent reviews and is cheaper than LR.
I think you can ask for backing gaskets for their plate. Bob |

there was a guy at one of the shows this year selling gaskets really cheap, i got genuine on mine but they cost an absoulte fortune best thing to do is get the sticky foam and cut it to shape thats all lr use on the rear quarters anyways and just make sure you paint the holes which you drill to prevent corrosion

Foot in mouth time/head in noose but will ask question WHY do you need chequer plate on rear quarter panel and cills?
OK personally I would not do i as can not see any benefit/not to my taste. There again not my vehicle. Brendan |

Only reason I have the plate on the cills is to stop the damage from my boots on the cills when I get in and out - I don't have rock sliders fitted.

Just to make it look a bit better . But also when I had the 90, the sills were getting scuffed just with getting in it. It was black and started looking a bit crap with it being scratched. The 110 is Stornaway grey and I thought the black chequer would look quite cool. Have I convinced you yet RRS tdv8 08 Disco 3 HSE 57 Defender 90 xs 06 All gone |

For the sills why not take them off and get them wrapped in clear??? Still keep the original colour of the 90 but a hard wearing surface as well. Can't imagine it would be that expensive either 110 D250 SE HT

Sorry No. There again Defenders are very much a personal thing about the way people modify them. Personally I would fit rock and tree sliders. Great for on road use as well as off road. Saves your cills/doors being damaged in car parks etc by inconsiderate car occupants banging their doors on my Defender. AS I said very much a personal choice. Brendan |
