Just a thought: won't a nice thick coat of waxoyl etc. block off many of the ingress points underneath, e.g. floorpans? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Just remembered the first time I went out in rain in the 110, the nice new carpets got wet all down the slope behind the third row seats and on the floor. Turned out water was getting in around the plates that fix the body to the support strut. It's exactly where all the spray shoots up above the rear wheel arch. The plates were a bit loose and LR don't seal around there at all! All I did was take the plates off, fit big rubber washers (bicycle tyre) around the studs and do the plates up nice and tight. No problems since Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Dry as a bone! For now at least
My 110 returned from Hunters with all the holes and leaks now sorted. Chatting to the technician in the body shop the major point of entry was the door seals! I hadn't spotted any problem. The water was running down the seal, concealed, until it appeared beneath the carpets and fooled me into thinking there it was getting in between the floor and the rear seat box The other thing that he mentioned was the alignment of the roof/side panels and tub. A slight misalignment was allowing water to weep past the seal between the tub and side panel. Because I park on a slight incline the water would pool around the area of the speaker trim in the rear load space. A tightening down to level off the side panel cured the problem. I can't fault Hunters of Chester for their service though and I did get to try out a brand new Freelander for a few days too. |
