https://www.sgs-engineering.com/sgs-mechan...lUEALw_wcB Has anyone has any experience, is it decent quality? Many thanks. |

I’ve always liked the look of SGS stuff, but they don’t deliver up to where I am….
Anyway, I have a Draper roller drawer with the top chest. The bottom one has 7 drawers I think - 2 larger ones below, and 5 thinner ones above. The top chest has three full width drawers and then I think a further 7 above those. It all completely depends on how you organise your tools, but in my case, and looking at what you’ve linked to, I think it would lack flexibility with the larger spaces (are those roller doors). I find the greater number of drawers allows me to organise tools into different types (so my ageing brain has a better chance of finding them quickly!) Hope that helps! I’ve got the MachineMart ones with the ball bearing rollers. Had them for years now and cannot complain.

I have no personal experience of the sgs boxes, but reviews of them seem poor.
I do have experience of SGS shipping me broken parts and then the unnecessarily long and drawn out process of resolution. (Emails ignored, going round in circles, no clear time frames, promised call backs that never happen, etc. etc.) I won't even buy Milwaukee kit from them any more, even when they're the cheapest. My main box is an ancient snap on, but I would have no issue with Halfords professional (or whatever they call them now) or the upmarket Clarke ones. |

I’ve a pair of sgs 6ton axle stands that the ratchet mechanism failed on, shouldn’t of been an issue getting a replacement with there lifetime warranty, they tried everything to refuse a refund/ replacement to the point of stating they’ve never sold 6ton stands.
Can’t comment on there boxes, but customer service is none existent. I’ve got us pro boxes, had for 10+ years no issues with them accept you want to keep buying tools to fill them. |

I have some of their axle stands, i bought them for my Range Rover and took one look at them and decided it wasn’t worth the risk. I’m a big fan of Halfords advanced, even if it’s just for the warranty. They happily exchanged my 15 year old torque wrench last week without a quibble, the receipt was long gone and they just opened the cabinet and gave me a new one. |

Has anyone bought and used this from Machine Mart, it’s not the HD? And it’s on offer!

No experience of this one but have had the HD one for years; it’s been great, never regretted the purchase. I’ll probably have to add some extra storage as it’s getting a bit too full now, but the drawers still run smoothly.

I bought a milwaukee service trolley a year and a half ago for £300, it was really sturdy tbh. Gets rolled around the workshop a fair bit. Also bought a costco big box that seems extremely good value for the money. Always heard mixed reviews about SGS and also the US pro ones. Cheap and cheerful but depends how heavy duty you want it.

Hi,
I've bought a few things from SGS over the last few years, most notably a 20 tonne press. All of the kit I have form them is well designed, solid and comes at a good price. As for tool chests, I have a couple of Halfords Advanced / Professional cabinets with the stacking drawers. Also good quality (get them with the roller drawers) and if you have a Halfords trade card you can get a really good discount on them if you keep you eye open for periods of discount. Hope this helps. Andy |
