Cybrand / ulez retrofit / ad-blue tank guard
I'm having this installed tomorrow and there's the option of a mild steel cover for the adblue tank, which goes under the passenger footwell (I believe). It has to be shaped and then powder coated. about £50 I think. Has anyone gone for this option? It feels worth it tbh ... but interested in any experiences and photos

EURO6 is not precise information. That kit is it EURO6c, EURO6d or EURO6d-TEMP ?

Not sure I even mentioned euro6? I’m not sure which variant… or how that’s relevant to the tank guard

Well, I've just been wondering why somebody installed AdBlue on a Defender. And the only reason I can imagine is an update on pollution. Ans the only evidence is a better pollution class.

By the way, we have the same sticker (class 2) for Euro5 and Euro6 "die" sel engines here in France Wink

Yes it does take it to EURO6 (UK ULEZ compliant for now)

My reasons in rough order of priority were…
1. Less pollutants for my kids as I ferry them around
2. Less pollution generally/in the environment from it
3. ULEZ …

And it’s the most cost effective improvement I’m aware of - albeit still expensive

Yes, it is ULEZ , LEZ compliant.

No, it is not Euro 6 compliant - it is analogous to Euro 6 standard. So you won't obtain a Euro6 class (inside EU)

The Germans abandoned the system because it does not yield Euro 6 classification for commuter cars and has therefore never been accepted by the European aithorities. The com is a bit misleading with respect to these details :

But, it is still state of the arts for costly vehicles / engines such as special purpose vehicles - accepted by some local authorities in Germany. Personnally I believe it is a smart upgrade

As for the original question: powder coating is cheap and looks nice which is why it's get promoted by suppliers. But it does not last at all and in fact promotes corrosion by trapping water as it flakes off.

avoid powder coating

Yes I find this confusing. In fact when I was looking for a commuter diesel for Paris I decided to avoid the Euro6 to have less hassle and things to go wrong for got a Euro5. Once diesel becomes unusable for Paris ( they keep postponing it) I probably just get a small electric car.

Makes sense... if I do get one of these guards fitted I might just have it galvanised instead

Dont worry, yesterday the Assemblée nationale voted a law project abolishing all low emission zones in France. They believe it's far too complex, against poor workers and does not take real émissions into account :

In near future you'll have to go abroad, if you want to paste antipollution stickers on your windscreen Wink
