I'm a wee bit embarrassed with the state of my crossmember here, compared with all the loved defender of the forum.
Anyway I'm swapping over to a new galvanised chassis have other tempted to buy a galvanised tub mount bracket that's more notched will helps prevent future corrosion but maybe doesn't look quite as nice a fit with the panel gap? Have anyone on here done the same with their puma defender? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305817322245?mk...dia=FB_MSG Borrowed other picture from a Facebook page ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Galvanizing is cool but you still need to treat it or coat it if you plan on exposing it to road salt. Otherwise it will corrode again though it will take longer.

Just fit the right one like yours if its galv and painted it will out live you. The one in your picture is for a early vehicle and they have forced on with the legs on either side of the body! The external brackets cause awful alloy corrosion on the outside of the body. We usually coat both bottom and the body side of the angle with corrosion block grease as a further measure

Thanks will stick with right type my original is in good condition so can probably rub down and paint or I might still buy a new galvanised one when at it.
I'm 35 just now I'm wanting to do it right and should last me a long time I'll have quite a few panel parts to overhaul the tub and brackets etc to order from yrm yet |
