Thanks for your response, that's what I hoped to hear -- I'll wrap it in rubber sheet for a bit of extra grip. I only want to take it off so I can install the missing foam pad under the gaiter - it's so noisy!!!

No grub screw if it’s the same as mine but I had to use thread lock on it to stop it vibrating, maybe yours is similar

Mine had no grub screw and it kept unscrewing itself, unless I tightened it up at a weird angle. So I quick installed a grub screw and all has been well since.
Maybe someone was a bit lazier and as said just locktighted it. Might need a lot of force to unscrew. |

No grub screw, maybe locktite or just on really tight. I've got hold of some really sticky/grippy rubber sheet so I'll wrap it in that and try my oil filter tool tomorrow
