Is the 2.0d as bad in defender as other JLR cars
Hi all, been offered a very nice first edition 110 at a reasonable price with 50k on the clock. Just wondered if the 2.0d is as bad in the defender as other cars as i haven't heard of as many failures in the new defender
Currently got a d5 first edition which has been absolutely amazing so I dont want to get rid of it and end up with a lemon 2000 90 TD5,galv chassis, d2 axles ,Bas remap , alisport intercooler , d2 transfer box , side windows-more to come-much more!! *GONE*

I’ve seen several failures of 2.0 litre diesels reported on the Facebook groups over the years, seems to manifest mainly as turbo failure.

However that’s not a reliable dataset as we don’t know how many are running trouble free. No doubt there are many.

if you have to ask you already know the answer......

voted world most unreliable engine

able to explode without warning

winner of the did they design to last until its 5mins out of warranty and then implode award

makes a wet belt engine look like a good idea.

Petrols don’t seem to suffer any major issues from what I’ve seen.

petrol's are much better bar they have poor mpg.
vvt solenoids are known to fail
and the folk who run them and plan to keep them try to 1/2 the service intervals that lr recomend
