Fabric Leeching Out of Speaker Grills - Weird
There is fluffy white, very fine fabric leeching out for my front speaker grills...

...very strange.

Anyone had this and anyone had this fixed under Warranty please?

Thank you

This sounds very much like a fungal growth. The mycelium filaments are fluffy and white on several species.
Hope it isnโ€™t this, but check for water ingress in this area.
If it is fungus the filaments are quite fragile if you pull them.

There are felt strips behind the speaker grilles. They are there just to protect the speakers a little more from the elements. The only way to get to the felt to remove it is by removing the outer part of the door panel, un-crimping the grille tabs and then remove the grille. Or you can try to pull the felt out through the honeycomb behind the grille.

I had an annoying bass rattle and it turns out the problem was the felt fluttering around. I secured it down with some fabric tape and the rattle went away.

I've attached a photo below. I put some silicone around the grille tabs, because I originally thought the rattle was the grille itself. But where the blobs of silicone are in the picture is where the tabs are that have to be un-crimped to remove the grille.

Thanks for the info.

The car is going into the Dealer as there is a bass rattle that the LR Assist guy thinks is loose window motor retaining screw.

They are going to look at the felt at the same time.

Looks like it could all be connected.

If that rattle goes away when you apply pressure to the speaker grille, it is most definitely the felt. I used Tesa tape to secure it down. You can also just remove it, too. Or if the dealer replaces the felt, I'd tell them to secure it down so the rattle doesn't come back. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ƒ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐’ ๐๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ (Pangea Green over Acorn/Lunar)
