Many thanks in advance, Alun |

Many thanks for the reply Blackwolf. Yes, I should have said - front facing camera recommendations please?

For a front-facing-only camera I think you have many choices, and hopefully others will chip in with recommendations.
I have F&R facing with an external rear camera (due to my Defender being a double-cab pickup with a tailgate) and for that the choice is much more limited since most makers assume you'll fit the rear camera in the back window. I use a Blackvue DR750 Truck which has an external camera. On the whole it is excellent but the after-sales service is flakey (mine "bricked" when I applied a "recommended" update and it was difficult to get help although they did replace it eventually - now I just never update it since it works fine). I would certainly recommend it if you need an external rear camera, just don't update the firmware! The picture quality is excellent. |

I was looking at getting motorbike cams.
I don't need the screen. |

I'm a fan of Viofo A119. They have very neat wedge of cheese style profile and capacitor instead of lithium battery which means they should be longer lived in a hot windscreen. Mine is at least 7 years old and going strong. There's been a few updates over the years so the current ones should be even better than the one I have. I have a more expensive Nextbase in another car which is not any better than the Viofo and has a bulky mounting arrangement. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Thanks Bluest, NMBRPL8 and Blackwolf for taking the time to reply. I like the look of the Viofo unit for its compactness so will investigate that one further.

Hi
I think that it depends what you intend to use it for. If you are looking for a camera to record bad driving or to cover yourself in the event of an accident then there are lots of really good cameras out there for between £20 - £75 which have the resolution to capture car registration plates during both day and night. On the other hand if you are looking to blog or upload your footage onto You Tube or similar then you are then looking at brands such as Nextbase, Garmin and Wolfbox. I've had a Chinese dash cam in my Range Rover for 5 years that cost £40. Produces footage that is good enough for evidential value and records car registrations in all lighting conditions both night and day. Some of the footage was deemed good enough to be used in a prosecution for dangerous driving showing an incident that happened in front of me. In my opinion there is no need to spend £100's to get a good dash cam these days.. Jim |

I've got a 1080P Jansite from Amazon
Front facing + rear cam each viewable on their own or split screen - does what it needs to Regards Les Def 90 M57 |
