Steering Boss distance from wheel to stalks - Advice please!
I am going to change from the standard wheel to a smaller Momo but after doing a lot of digging around trying to choose what boss to go for, I have a feeling that the steering wheel will be a lot further away from the stalks than standard. Is this the case even with the slimline boss options?

I originally intended to go for the Optimill quick release.

but after reading that the Momo center cap isn't compatible, I am now thinking of saving quite a few quid and going for this instead.

Any thoughts or previous experience is appreciated! Thanks.

I personally would go for the extra security that a removable wheels over the cosmetic aspect.

Thank for sending this, that's the slimmest I've seen so far I think so in the runnings but still not compatible with the Momo centre cap. Wondering if none of the slim ones allow it so is it a trade off between having a slim boss vs keeping the Momo centre?

"Please note due to the slimness of the boss the momo centre will not fit with this boss, except on the dark fighter & millenium sport."

Anyone know how far away the stalks are from the wheel and if this is even a problem? I find the wheel perfectly positioned at the moment so worried about changing it. Confused

I've got the Optimill slimline boss as it puts the wheel closer to the stalks for easy reach. It's a comfortable position, no issues. Can't use the Momo centre cap, but the Optimill supplied one blends in fine.
With a Momo Tuner, approx 45mm from back of the wheel to stalk.

I use a Stoplock at the moment which I'd continue to use, arguably better for convenience reasons. Sometimes it isn't practical to be carrying a steering wheel about Rolling with laughter

You don’t need to carry the steering wheel about. You remove it, replace it with the swivel lock and put the wheel in a bag hidden away or chained to a rear seat metalwork in the vehicle . Just take it into your house, friends house, hotel etc when appropriate.

I have the momo tuner wheel with Optimill QR boss and swivel lock. The Optimill centre cap looks good with it, however if you want you can fit a Nakatanenga Leather LR centre https://www.nakatanenga.de/en/raid-leather...D-HKL-TGGM

Just a word of caution on the wheel size.
I got a 350mm wheel, it looked tiny and took ages to get used to, after the 410mm original.
If I was buying again, I'd probably get something around 370mm.

The good thing about the Stoplock, at least from the thief's point of view, is that it can be removed in about 28 seconds. Remember the thief won't care about damaging your steering wheel.

An Optimill boss with locking cap fitted is much harder, albeit still not impossible, to circumvent.

I like the smaller 350mm wheel, it gives you that bit more of right elbow room, which is always appreciated on those longer journeys with the window up.

What wheel are you considering? Some of the Momo ones are horrifically awful looking.

Most aftermarket setups mean you end up with the steering wheel up towards your nose, even worse when the wheel is dished.

I too have the Optimil boss and with the right wheel keeps the steering wheel in the correct physical location.

The removable setup is good if you are worried about security, but it will move the wheel closer to you. As the entire boss is thicker.

think ive posted this before , but I have two wheels ..one I suspect most would consider far too small, but I change them over often and really enjoy the small one..

Going to small on the steering wheel can give less elbow room in some ways. As you move your hands closer together you'll tend to turn your elbows out as you bend your arms more.
