VCV I’d imagine, hence the variable pressures you are seeing.
The VCV itself, doesn’t provide a DTC on the system, but the sporadic fuel pressures you are seeing is a clue. There is the Crank Position Sensor, but I’d imagine with that it would not start at all. Often there is a DTC for this though. Failed or failing VCV can cause the motor to cut out, which is what it might be doing if just after starting. Also be sure the imobiliser is not armed before starting, which is just a single press of unlock on the fob. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

First thing to check ,is the fuel system receiving any power..
Can you hear the fuel pump in tank running when you turn on the ignition.. I think the rail would need to see over 200 bar on cranking to allow the injectors to fire.. Seeing a high rail pressure on cranking could be symptomatic of the vcv receiving no power..ie they fail fully open.. so that would tie in with no power to the fuel system and no start A quick check of the inertia switch as well. Sorry..I didn't mention your fuel pump failure point..
They can and do fail if contaminated with water and for any reason loose lubrication..in those instances they can contaminate the whole fuel system including injectors with micro slivers of metal..visible to the naked eye if you strip the pump , so I'm told.. The danger here is just replacing the pump and finding the problem reoccurs, as the whole system needs cleaning out.. |

Immobiliser? I’ve just replaced mine 2013 2.2. Same symptoms. Fitted a green 10AS and sync to ecu and problem solved. Worth a check but if all other feature such as central locking and interior courtesy lights are working then unlikely to be this.

That fault would explain the failure to crank properly👍which i couldn't see happening with my suggestion of failure of the fuel system or inertia switch..it should still crank..👍

Have you changed your fob battery recently? Has the red alarm light ( on instrument cluster ) stayed on and solid even with engine running before this non starting issue . This would indicate low fob battery.
As a quick and cheap check replace fob battery with cr2032 Varta or Panasonic battery, re sync fob by closing doors ( leave a window open) press lock four times fast, then unlock. Locks should open. Check all fuses associated with alarm. Check which alarm unit you have, it could be a green 10AS unit or the later black ALM unit. If black ALM unit, have you let the main starter battery drain very low ? This can cause a brownout issue on the ALM CH- xxxxx serial number devices and stop it communicating with alarm unit. Have you access to a Nanocom to enable you to do an EMS to alarm unit resync. |
