New Purchase of a 110
I have owned a D3 for about 10 years before my current car so I know what i am letting myself in for !

But I am bored of my current Rexton and have always fancied a Defender so pulled the trigger with this vehicle below. They are taking my car in as part exchange and we have agreed a price and a deposit has been paid. Been lurking here for a while so done my research but is there anything during the test drive I need to look out for ? The dealer selling the car agreed to give me the number of the prior owner (he had it straight from Stratstone who kept it as a demo for 6 months) and he has seemingly looked after it to an inch of its life. (see his own personal service book in the advert)

The chap was great on the phone, he is an ex engineer and essentially changed the oil every 3k and has been on top of anything that needed doing. Ir also had the oil pump recall in year 1. Seems like it was a good car, and I think it is priced fairly.

Any sugestions greatly appreciated. Thanks James

Hi and welcome

The main thing to have a good look around before and after the test drive to see if there any leaks and my indy told me to take a toffee hammer with me and tap every piece of the chassis to make sure it was a good one and i did just that and it was a good chassis Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Thanks, did the deal and drove it back to Scotland the same day. Actual ride is good, gear changes are interesting to say the least but I will get used to it. I did have a moment when i was turning to pull out and there was a 5 second screeching noitse. Had a wobble as it was quite loud and sounded bad. It was only until i got home that i realised i had pushed the door lock down with my elbow and it was coming from the near side rear door lock ! so am guessing that needs some lubrication or replacement. Very pleased with it so far, next steps is security on it and then a re-map in the spring to stage 1.
