Assuming you have a 2.2 Puma, if you are mentioning a pump? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

First thing to do is check the fuse and relay that will power the tank pump when the ignition is switched..
It does only run for a bout 10 seconds..I assume there is a mechanical pump on the back of the high pressure pump that then does the job, but it's something I'm currently trying to find out a bit more about..ie intending to scope the low pressure line and monitor pump current..Just to see what is normal on the 2.2l engine.. My issue is finding a connector to fit to the bleed point under the green cap on the supply line to the pump..that's where I'm hoping to connect the pressure transducer.. I digress🤣... With your tank pump not running starting with fuse and relay ...but I'd have thought it should still running once started in spite of that.. May be a vcv valve issue as well.. |

Should really have said start with a correct wiring dig and identify the fuse and relay👍🤣

Fuse and relay are fine, I’ll jump the fuse to send 12v to the pump to see if I can drive it into action. Otherwise it maybe the CVC which is faulty?? Bit of a loss here as away from home and it’s the holidays and nothing is open 😅

Worth checking the inertia switch and the fuse (fuse 9 5Amp ) that serves it.

If the inertia switch was actuated then the engine wouldn't start.... the injectors would be disabled as well as the tank pump...I had presumed that wasn't the case.. have I got that wrong🤔😫

I suspect you assumed correctly Andy , and the engine is running and therefore not the inertia switch. However as the OP has not stated whether the engine was running or not, and it’s a 5 min job to see if the fuse is ok and to check continuity of the switch then it’s worth a quick look if engine not starting.

Test the fuse in situ with a test light. Do not jump the fuse. If it popped, it did so for a reason. You don’t want to burn up your wiring or worse.

So power is getting to the pump after all. So just need to source a new pump
