Small framed tractors
I have a need for a 60-75bhp small framed rather than compact tractor, max height 2.5m, ideally with a loader and grab.

looking at new Holland 4.65 and John Deere 5075e currently any suggestions/recommendations.

General small holding, topping, shifting much etc work plus chipper occassionally. Cheers

Siromer? Only came across them via Tom Pemberton's YouTube but they seem to be good value.

Local chap to me I've been getting all my implements for the lawn mower (Ford 1220) and he's a great chap to deal with. Ironically born on my parents farm before they bought it. He sells FarmTracs and from what I've seen in passing they appear to be a decent tractor.

cheers, looking a bit bigger than a farmtrac and think i am inclined to stay with a bigger name despite the premium. Cheers

I’d probably look at JD and Kubota, there is some nice Old Ford’s around, but reliability might be a bit problematic with their age. No Guts, No Glory.

It might be worth keeping an eye on Whitland Machinery Sale (search for JJ Morris Auctioneers on Facebook). Can't remember which Saturday it is but once a month. It's become rather big recently.

If you need somewhere to stay then I'm sure we could find a spare room or three. We're only 10 minutes up the road from it. Ed

I have a JD 5058 with an MX loader
Great little tractor for moving big bales, harrowing, rolling and pasture topping
Bought a fence post knocker just before lockdown, makes fencing a lot easier and have recently bought a log splitter, amazing gadget
I think it’s an 80hp three cylinder, made in India

Throwing it out there but do you really need a "large" compact tractor? Would a smaller fullsize one be better suited / cheaper overall.

The in laws have a Kubota and large (perhaps) Solis and they're good but my parents have an old SAME (bought a week after I was born) which is only slightly larger physically and I think about 2/3rds of the power but would knock the socks off the others actually doing any work. Admittedly it doesn't have a loader.

Where I'm getting at is if you went for a slightly older tractor they are inherently smaller but can pack more of a punch. The mod cons likely won't be there either though if that matters. A neighbour has an old Massey which ended up having to tow a loaded 10t dump trailer up from the bottom of his farm when the twice the size New Holland failed. The Massey simply dug its rear wheels in, front came off the ground and it pulled the trailer up the hill. Probably down to narrower tyres. Ed
