Military were were HD variant, chassis mods and different suspension.
I think civil HD is just suspension upgrade on rear. Don't think there are chassis mods. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

Imagine trying to find an aftermarket landrover part that was not sold as being "heavy duty"?
Almost as hard as finding an alloy part, made out of anything other than "aircraft grade" alloy. My feelings are that the term is often (not always, but often) more concerned with marketing than the physical world. |

You can get Heavy Duty LR springs for a defender. Just means you can carry more weight before it hits the bump stop

Is yours an Ex-fleet vehicle?
I believe heavy duty is a term for the rear springs and 1 piece rear shafts, instead of the 2 piece shafts. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |

According to my 2013 brochure you could have a 110 as a standard or a heavy duty option, and all 130's were classed as heavy duty.
"Heavy Duty Pack Option - includes Heavy Duty Suspension, Reinforced Chassis, Heavy Duty Steel Wheels and increases GVM by 450kg to 3,500kg" Heavy duty suspension was single rate springs all round with additional co-axial helper springs at the rear compared to dual rate springs at the front and multi rate at the rear for the standard version. |

All heavy-duty version have different springs - here is a list of springs with the corresponding colours. I found the list some time ago on the internet.
