JE Engineering 6 Speed Auto Clunky gear change
Hi,

I've got a 90 with a Puma 2.2 engine, Alive stage 2 upgrade and a JE Engineering 6 speed auto transmission.

Accelerating in traffic or from the lights in a 20mph zone, it's smooth until the change between 3rd and 4th when it holds revs a little too long and then changes with a real "donk"!

Accelerating with more force, or for example when joining a motorway, it's as smooth as anything. No "donk", just a proper change through the gears and plenty of pulling power.

Anyone got any ideas?

Also, does anyone know how to "reset" the JE Engineering "learning" function to return the JE Engineering box back to factory settings?!

Thanks,

Anthony

Sadly JE Engineering aren’t in business anymore as far as I can tell. They became JE Motorworks owned by DRVN Automotive Group but JE Motorworks are now being shut down too. I called DRVN but never heard back.

Have you written to the active directors of JE listed on companies house?

Might come up trumps for the price of a stamp

How many miles has it done. Have you tried a transmission oil change and filters?

New install, zero miles. Can’t imagine it’s a transmission oil or filter issue.

New, as in just picked it up? Take it back or they have gone bust since collected? Cheers

I suspect this is the Ford 6R80 with the PCS control system,

i tried this setup but couldn't get it to drive nicely but I was under the impression JE persevered with it and got it to drive acceptably well, Dave

Good shout - spoke to Gareth. He's encountered the problem before. Booked in for an appointment to try and cure the problem.
