Sorry, I have checked my workshop manual, and online, and that doesn't seem to be a valid code for a Puma engine.

Hi, P0240 means "P0240 Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor "B" Circuit Range/Performance". Hope this will help you.
Cheers |

Yes, but that is for another engine in another platform (Range Rover). It's not a valid code for the 2.4 or 2.2 Puma engines.

The 0 after the P indicates its a generic or standardized obd code and not a manufacturer specific code..
Manufacturer specific will start P1 |

Lubricate the Turbo actuator pivots fairly often with light oil.
Just like the timing of greasing props etc, if not been done for a while you can disconnect it (the turbo actuator pivot circlip) to check the vanes are free and not sticking too. I tend to do these things about each quarter, or every 3 months roughly. If you leave it too long, that’s when things get gummed up, grease solidifies etc etc. LR do I believe a Ceramic grease for it, there is a PN for it but I seem to remember it’s a ridiculous price such as £75 for about 5g tube, even then being grease, it will handle the temp but will get gummed up over time, which is why I use a 3 in 1 light oil dripper on those pivots, and you only want a few drops on it there as the Turbo gets very very hot so don’t spray lube all over the place there. When the actuator gets sticky, you can then end up in limp mode out of the blue. And that will only improve if you shut off the engine and restart, and providing it doesn’t stick again 5 minutes later. It can throw up the Turbo under boost code or over boost too, and not be the vanes at all. Keeping the MAP sensor clean and MAF are a good idea too, but they don’t need doing more often than just once a you cold do it every other year like servicing, but I wouldn’t leave it longer than that. Brake cleaner aerosol or MAF cleaner spray is ideal, and the MAP manifold stud torque is 3NM. It’s useful to keep an eye on even if you don’t have any issues currently, you never know. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Translated. “here I found the fault, the variable geometry of the turbo was blocked. I disassembled the turbo and cleaned everything, greased the reassembled shaft and the test is ok. my def runs very very well.” Last edited by Ianh on 30th Nov 2024 1:34pm. Edited 1 time in total |
